Originally from Oran in Argentina, Mauricio Basualdo, 1.97M for 98 kg, settled in Spain in 2019. After having learned all his skills with the Argentine selection, he joined BM Benidorm where he scored 77 goals in 27 games and reached the Copa del Rey final, beaten by Barcelona.
Then loaned to UD Ibiza Handbol, he has just completed a season at Valladolid, a club playing in the ASOBAL League (Spanish first division). Author of 50 goals in 24 games last seasonthe 23-year-old arrives in Cherbourg to pair up with Antoine Léger at right-back.
After the Scandinavian era at the JSC, it is now a team with a Spanish accent which is preparing to resume competition, headed by an Iberian pair from whom much is expected.
JS Cherbourg begins its series of preparation matches on Saturday with a meeting against Gonfreville, in Saint-Lô.
