For several days and before the storms came to erase them, colored chalk inscriptions have been clearly visible in recent weeks in the streets of Buxerolles, near Poitiers. At the foot of low walls, on sidewalks, along green spaces, one could read: woolly owl, Benoit, cleavers or hedge bindweed.
Who is behind this action?
An initiative which remains anonymous but which makes the mayor of the city smile, Gerald Blanchard : “That’s what challenges, I think it’s educational and then us too, it made us think because we talked about it within the municipal team, we think that for children it’s great, so after the problem cleaning in front of the inhabitants we are working on it and that concerns us. We no longer use weedkillers and that’s a good thing and we try to make the inhabitants aware of a little uprooting in front of their homes, so of course it’s is also an opportunity to differentiate between weeds, and those that have an interest, such as those we are talking about and even the flowers that some people leave in front of their homes.
The city of Buxerolles, which goes even further in its approach, explains the mayor:“For residents who have difficulty bending down and weeding, in front of their homes, they can contact the town hall, and we can organize ourselves with our civic hours, it is volunteers from the municipality who will give a little help. of hand and which offer a little moment of conviviality.” Another operation will also be renewed, residents had met to weed roundabouts in the town and took the opportunity to share a small drink and something to eat.
