an alternative to cosmetic surgery?

HIFU Endromed technology is the technique used by Dr. Louafi. It is a method of lifting the face and neck very popular in aesthetic medicine. It restores tension to the cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues of the face, neck and décolleté. It is a professional Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) device to obtain non-surgical facelifts, this method is non-invasive. It has different levels depending on the desired result.

IP: What are the effects of HIFU on the skin?

Adel Louafi : HIFU (high intensity focus ultrasound) has a triple effect: microcoagulation, which allows subcutaneous retraction which will create tension. Stimulation of collagen fiber and elastic fiber in the body. We are going to have these three combined effects, including an instantaneous one, then biostimulation which will work for three months to work on the elasticity of the skin.

Why is it an alternative to cosmetic surgery?

It is a medical technique done in the office, non-invasive, no needles. These are waves and there is no bleeding. You have to determine the depth, the power and the energy that you are going to deliver to each of the zones.

For which audience do you recommend it?

It is a treatment proposed quite early in life, from the age of 25/30, used as prevention. From the age of 30/35, the skin has lost firmness compared to 20/25 years. The firmness, density and quality of the skin will gradually and progressively decrease from the end of the twenties.

Is there a maximum age to use it?

There is no maximum age to use it. HIFU can be performed “late” in life. If you do not want to do a surgical facelift, it is possible to do several sessions of HIFU combined with fillers. Obviously, we will never have the result of a surgical facelift, but sometimes what is sought is only to look less tired and to redensify the skin.

Is it only rejuvenation that is sought by patients?

We are not necessarily in rejuvenation, we have come out of this dogma of facial rejuvenation. We are much more in the “French Touch” (the return to nature), with less invasive techniques, with less brutal changes, softer and gentler techniques.

What are the prices ?

It depends on the areas, it can start at 200/250 euros. On very important treatment plans (full face, neck, number of sessions, editor’s note) it can be budgets of several thousand euros. In all cases, there is a personalized estimate given in consultation before the act.

What are the contraindications?

There are quite a few. It is forbidden for minors, pregnant women, if there are evolving skin pathologies (wounds, inflammatory dermatosis or infection, editor’s note) or if there is a peacemaker. We avoid injecting an area where there has recently been an injection of fillers or recent surgery.

How long do the effects of HIFU last?

What we will gain in restoring tension, in collagen fiber and in elastic fiber: it is something that will last. But the aging process will continue naturally. Often we do “starter” protocols, we do three sessions over a short period of time (every three months) and then we will do one or two maintenance sessions every six months or every year.

What advice do you have for people who want to do HIFU?

I would say that like all aesthetic medicine procedures, these are procedures that carry a number of risks. You have to be careful to have them done by a qualified plastic surgeon and not give in to the sirens of clandestine aesthetic medicine that abounds on social networks. In particular, on Instagram and Snapchat, there are “fake doctors” who have no training, and this is also the case for botox and hyaluronic acid injections.
