War in the Middle East: an air disaster averted?
(france 2)

Did we come close to an air disaster last Tuesday, October 1, when Iran fired nearly 200 missiles towards Israel? Air France has opened an internal investigation after statements made by the pilots of a Paris-Dubai flight. They reportedly saw missiles pass by the aircraft as it flew over Iraq.

This Tuesday, October 1, Air France flight AF662 leaves the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle tarmac, destination: Dubai. A priori, no difficulties on the journey, the flight plan is known to everyone. The Boeing 777 was flying over the Balkans when the first American media reported an imminent attack by Iran on Israel. Obviously informed of this threat, several of the planes of other companies which were to take the same route decided to turn around. But this flight continues its route and takes the air corridor which flies over Iraq, when several dozen missiles are fired from Iran, and some fly over the aircraft.

From the cockpit, the crew saw lights appear in the sky. The plane continues on its way as if nothing had happened and ends up landing as planned in Dubai. Alerted by part of the crew, the pilots’ unions denounce reckless risk-taking by the Air France control center.
