The former Croatian international and OM have agreed on a contract of “two years minimum”. He had until now coached Hellas Verona in series A, which he left at the end of the season, after winning 9th place. The date of signing Igor Tudor’s contract with Marseille is yet to be determined.
Former defender of Juventus (1999-2007), he began his coaching career on the bench of Hajduk Split in 2013, before leaving for Greece at PAOK Salonika, then in Turkey where he notably coached Galatasaray team, before joining Italy. Igor Tudor will be in training on Monday to replace Jorge Sampaoli, according to information from franceinfo. In place since February 2021, the 62-year-old Argentinian technician left OM on Friday July 1 when the first training sessions resumed on Wednesday. Jorge Sampaoli led the club to second place in Ligue 1 last season, allowing the Marseillais to qualify directly for the Champions League. The Argentinian arrived on the bench at the Vélodrome after the resignation of André Villas-Boas in February 2020.
Since the departure of Rudi Garcia in May 2019, Jorge Sampaoli is the third coach to leave office after less than two seasons. Apart from Rudi Garcia, only Didier Deschamps has spent at least two full seasons at the head of the first team since 2000.
