The adaptation of the successful novel “Waiting for Bojangles” will be released in theaters on Wednesday 5 January. The story of a passionate couple, crowned with numerous literary prizes, today embodied on the screen by Virginie Effira and Romain Duris.

It is love at first sight between two completely shifted beings, who live a life of pleasure and celebration. In Waiting for Bojangles, all fantasies are possible and family love is stronger than anything. An extravagant universe that this couple has created for themselves. “The film gets rid of a certain normative idea”, says Virginie Effira, starring in the film with Romain Duris. But when the passion is too strong, it can turn into madness. So, to control all your emotions, and to escape from a life that can quickly become gloomy, dance becomes therapy.

Dance, “to evacuate sadness, melancholy, bad vibes, bad thoughts”, indicates Romain Duris. First a literary success with more than 700,000 copies, then adapted for the theater, this story quickly attracted the curiosity of the cinema, and its author Olivier Bourdeaut was even able to choose the director, Régis Roissard. “He looked me in the eye and said ‘I’m going to betray you’, and I like people who are a bit boastful”, confides the author. Waiting for Bojangles tells us the story of a family where we love each other very much, passionately, madly.
