No TGV will circulate south of Bordeaux on Wednesday April 12, until the end of the afternoon. A “Act of vandalism” committed in the Landes greatly disrupts the movement of trains in the South-West, announced the SNCF. According to the same source, a fire caused on the railway line between the municipalities of Morcenx and Laluque “damaged signaling control cables, preventing the movement of trains in both directions”. A police investigation was carried out and the SNCF teams “are in the process of intervention”, specifies the company.

As a result, traffic “will be very disturbed all day”. No TER will run between Dax and Morcenx and no TGV between Bordeaux and Hendaye/Tarbes, “until late afternoon”specifies the SNCF, which invites users “to cancel or postpone their trip”.

A “scandalous act”

“Shame on those who destroy public material”reacted on Twitter the Minister for Transport, Clément Beaune, who “strongly condemns the act of vandalism which prevents the circulation of trains south of Bordeaux”. He promises that “this scandalous act will be punished”.

At the end of January, an arson on electric cables from a signal box in Seine-et-Marne had almost paralyzed traffic at the Gare de l’Est in Paris. He was only able to fully recover after two days of repairs. The SNCF then denounced a “act of sabotage”. On March 28, the circulation of TGVs linking Paris to the South-East of France was in turn disrupted.
