“Giving yourself your all is the basis!“exclaims Régis Laguesse, in front of his ten young players, aged 6 to 13. On this 5-a-side football field, two teams, the blues and the oranges, with one particularity: they play barefoot.
A proven method
This is the Jean-Marc Guillou method, developed by the former football player, especially when he coached players from Côte d’Ivoire. A pedagogy that Régis Laguesse has known well for more than twenty years.
It is a method of which I have seen the results. Among the very young people that we trained in Ivory Coast, 23 made three World Cups. The advantage of being barefoot is already that there is no weight in the shoes. And when you hit the ball badly, you immediately realize it hurts your foot! – Régis Lagesse, Clermont Foot consultant and trainer
Young players seem to quickly get used to playing without shoes. “When we are barefoot, we control the balls better and we hit better“, explains Anis, 8 years old. Every Sunday and for thirty weeks, the young players selected from all over Puy-de-Dôme will meet in the Clermont Five premises. and will experiment with this training method.
“Clermont Foot is the only Ligue 1 club to offer this“Moulay Al Alaoui, manager of Clermont Five, assures with pride. Between 20 and 30 future champions will be selected on November 14 and 21.
