In Sartrouville, Antoine and his brothers had the idea of transforming an abandoned car park into an urban farm. By experimenting with soilless and pesticide-free cultivation, they manage to produce more than a traditional farmer.
Abandoned for 9 years, this 1300 square meter car park in Sartrouville was recovered by Antoine and his brothers to open an urban farm.
“We only do bioponics. It is a mix between soilless cultivation and organic cultivation. Instead of putting chemical fertilizers, we will put organic fertilizers, compost that we have solubilized”, explains Anthony.
“You might think it’s artificial, but we reproduce the conditions of nature inside our systems, since we do not use pesticides, we save 90% of water”, continues Guillaume, an urban farmer.
Once harvested, the products are sold to restaurants or supermarkets within a radius of 20 km around the farm. Residents of the neighborhood can also come and pick up once a week a “solidarity basket”, composed of fresh fruits and vegetables at low prices.
