An 82-year-old hunter found dead in a wood in the Dordogne

It was his wife who called the gendarmes, worried that her husband would not return from hunting. As revealed by our colleagues from South West, an 82-year-old man was found dead this Thursday, September 15 in Champniers-et-Reilhac. According to the first findings, he would have succumbed to a heart attack.

Two hours of research

The octogenarian left around 10 a.m., hunt wood pigeon and look for mushrooms. At midday, not seeing him return, his partner alerts the emergency services. A dozen soldiers, and a canine team with tracking dogs went there for the research.

Finally, around 4 p.m., a deputy mayor saw the body of the octogenarian, on the edge of the Bois de la Chapaudie, one kilometer from his home. In hunting clothes, the man died with his rifle in his hand, which was not loaded. Everything suggests that he did a heart attack as he positioned himself in front of the oaks in search of a wood pigeon.
