At the end of the afternoon on Saturday, an 8-year-old boy was hit by a car while crossing the D39, the road that borders the lake of Villeneuve-de-la-Raho.
Supported by firefighters and SAMU, the child was transported in serious condition to Perpignan hospitalwith head and leg injuries. He died overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
The driver who hit the child was heard by the gendarmes. Aged 56, she claims thatshe was dazzled by the setting sun while traveling in the Villeneuve-de-la-Raho – Pollestres direction. Comments consistent with those of the witnesses of the scene according to the gendarmes. The driver was tested negative for alcohol and narcotics.
