The police officers of the MRC de Montcalm were called around 10 p.m. for an exit from the road on Highway 25, at kilometer 44, southbound, in Saint-Roch-Ouest.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, the young motorist attempted an illegal overtaking and lost control of his vehicle, before rolling over.

The driver, who comes from Rawdon, was ejected from the cockpit and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The other two passengers, aged 18 and 21, were not seriously injured, the provincial police said.

A police officer trained in collision investigation was dispatched to the scene during the night to analyze the scene. He determined that a dangerous maneuver could have caused the accident.

This event comes a week after a 17-year-old girl who had just obtained her license perished in a violent collision in Lebel-sur-Quévillon, in the Nord-du-Québec region.
