Permanent closure. The Danish amusement park Tivoli Friheden announced on Friday July 15 the end of operation of a roller coaster the day after the death of a 14-year-old girl in an accident in Aarhus, in the west of the country. The “Cobra” attraction, a roller coaster that can reach 70 km / h, had already been the scene of a serious accident which injured four people there fourteen year.

“After the accident in 2008, and now that of 2022, we no longer have confidence that the attraction is safe enough to continue to be part of Tivoli Friheden”, said park manager Henrik Ragborg Olesen. The accident happened in the early afternoon of Thursday, when a trolley from the attraction fell off the back, killing a Danish teenager and injuring a 13-year-old boy in the hand.

These roller coasters, a circuit 400 meters long and 25 meters high of Italian design, had already resulted in an accident in 2008, shortly after their inauguration. At the time, it was the front part that had come off. Four people were seriously injured and the investigation revealed a construction error. The Tivoli Friheden park, evacuated after the accident, will remain closed until Monday.
