This is very good news for Amnéville Zoo (Moselle) : the park is making a comeback within the prestigious European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA).
It was the construction of the Tiger world, and the wild animal shows that it hosted, which had earned it the loss of this approval. Today, the zoo no longer presents animal shows and has reoriented itself with a strong pedagogical dimension. The arena now hosts a hologram animal show.
The possibility of participating in exchange programs between zoos
Since her arrival at the head of the zoo, the new president Albane Pillaire had made membership of the EAZA a priority. It is therefore now done, with a unanimous vote of the members of EAZA, gathered in Faro, Portugal.
In fact, in addition to recognition of the work of the zoo for the conservation of animal species, membership of the EAZA allows take part in exchange programsand function of place and births in the different zoos. “EAZA is a force that brings together 400 institutions in 48 countries offering a unique network of exchanges, research and debates”specifies the Zoological Park of Amnéville.
