“I don’t ask myself any questions, except to continue my work”, ensures Thursday January 4 on France Inter Roland Lescure. The macronie is buzzing with rumors of a reshuffle to relaunch Emmanuel Macron’s second five-year term, after the political crisis which surrounded the adoption of the immigration law. The Minister Delegate in charge of Industry is one of those who considered resigning after the agreement between the right and the majority found in the joint committee.

For him, you have to keep a cool head. “It regularly happens that the council of ministers is moved”, he puts things into perspective. The one-week postponement, from Wednesday January 3 to Wednesday January 10, of this meeting, indeed fuels speculation. “I’m not sure it’s particularly healthy to spend your life asking questions”, he points out. He sticks to his “philosophy, quite simple” : “What I master, I do thoroughly, what I don’t master, I live with”.

“In these times, you know the adage: those who know do not speak, those who speak do not know”, he added. According to him, we should not overinterpret the president’s words either. During his wishes to the French for 2024, Sunday December 31, Emmanuel Macron wanted to thank the government and “Especially” the Prime Minister. Roland Lescure does not see this as a sign that the end of Élisabeth Borne’s lease in Matignon is approaching: “It is quite simply a President of the Republic who thanks his government for having worked well”.

The minister returns to the episode of the immigration law, very painful for the majority. “I had questions about the text itself, that’s true”, he said. In a joint committee, “a certain number of subjects which have been reopened have concerned me”of which “the conditionality of personalized housing assistance”. Since then, he has been reassured: “the Prime Minister received us [les ministres opposés au texte] from Tuesday evening. She answered our questions.”.

That’s not all : “The President of the Republic spoke in a major public broadcasting media [dans C à vous, sur France 5], from Wednesday. He also, moreover, mentioned doubts that he himself had about the text.adds the minister, and “he has also referred the matter to the Constitutional Council which will have to give its opinion in the coming weeks”. Now that this episode is over, “the work continues”.
