(San Diego) Lindsey Horan scored with a header in first-half stoppage time as the United States beat Brazil 1-0 on Sunday in the Women’s Gold Cup final.
This was the first women’s Gold Cup.
It was the fourth time that these two countries met in the final of a tournament. The Americans also won the other three duels, including at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games.
The sold-out match drew a crowd of 31,528 to Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. This is a record for a Concacaf women’s match.
Both teams secured their ticket to the Paris Olympic Games this summer.
