(Bluffton) Nikki Haley said Monday that former President Donald Trump caused too much chaos to win a second term in the White House.


The former governor and United Nations ambassador drew the biggest crowd of her primary campaign so far as she tries to narrow the gap with Trump ahead of the milestone Iowa caucus weeks sending the calendar of Republican nominations.

Mme Haley spoke about her former boss, saying, as she has before, that she believed Trump was “the right president at the right time” but that the time was now right for a new generation of American leaders.

“I agree with many of his policies, but the truth is that, rightly or wrongly, chaos follows him,” said Mr.me Haley. We have too much division in this country and too many threats around the world to find ourselves in chaos again. »

Nikki Haley was in South Carolina on Monday for a campaign event for her Republican nomination.

About 2,500 people attended the event at a University of South Carolina satellite campus along the state’s southern coast. Half that number watched the event on screens outside the building, after it was filled to capacity.

M’s teamme Haley has framed her campaign as being on an upward trajectory and pointed to growing crowds in recent weeks as she draws new attention from voters and donors seeking an alternative to Donald Trump.

Nikki Haley hit the usual points in her campaign speech Monday, drawing applause and cheers following calls to limit the terms of members of Congress, subject politicians to mental competency tests and end relationships trade with China “until they stop murdering Americans with fentanyl.”

Mme Haley is among a group of candidates competing for a distant second place with Trump, who has led the Republican Party since his third presidential campaign kicked off last year.

Later this week, Mme Haley will return to New Hampshire, where she has done extensive campaign work. Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has more than a dozen events scheduled this week in Iowa. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is campaigning across South Carolina on Friday.
