(Toronto) Max Ellis scored the game-winning goal in the third period and the Toronto Marlies defeated the Laval Rocket 3-2 on Saturday.
It’s a second straight loss for the Rocket, which lost 8-4 to the Rochester Americans on Friday.
William Trudeau and Mitchell Stephens scored the goals for the Rocket. Cayden Primeau stopped 46 shots in the loss, including 19 in the first period.
Erik Kallgren made 19 saves for the Marlies.
Midway through the third period, Stephens gave the Rocket hope with his ninth of the season, making it 2-2.
The Marlies wasted no time in retaking the lead. Ellis scored the eventual game-winning goal 15:04 into the third period.
The Rocket tied the game 1-1 in the second period, thanks to defenseman Trudeau’s third goal of the season. The Marlies regained the lead less than three minutes later, however, when Bobby McMann completed the play of Nick Abruzzese and Alex Steeves on the power play.
Graham Slaggert opened the scoring for the Marlies after 15:56 of play. Marc Johnstone and Zach Solow had assists on the goal.
