American League | The Rocket come close to a dramatic comeback against the Moose

(Laval) The Rocket scored three unanswered goals in the final six minutes to force overtime, but ultimately fell 5-4 to the Manitoba Moose on Friday.

Leading 3-0 after the first two thirds, the visitors seemed in complete control of the encounter. Alex Belzile and Rem Pitlick sounded the death knell for this domination.

Belzile, helped by Pitlick, allowed the locals to enter the score and reduce the Moose lead to 3-1. However a goal from Daniel Torgersson canceled the duo’s effort, which had not said its last word.

Pitlick again helped Belzile find the back of the net and the Rocket found themselves two goals clear of their opponent.

Belzile was then instrumental in Corey Schueneman’s goal at 18:49 of the third period, which cut Moose’s lead to 4-3. Pitlick again blackened the score sheet when Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, author of a hat trick in the last meeting between the two clubs, Wednesday evening, sent the debate into overtime.

Jansen Harkins, however, played spoilsport in overtime and gave the victory to the Moose.

The Rocket beat the Moose 6-3 on Wednesday.

In the loss, Joël Teasdale collected two assists and Cayden Primeau stopped 30 shots.

Dominic Toninato, Evan Polei and Wyatt Bongiovanni also hit the mark for the Moose. Arvid Holm made 37 saves.

Jean-François Houle’s men finished that four-game home streak with a 3-1-0 record. They’ll be back in action Sunday against the North Division rivals and leaders Marlies in Toronto.
