American actress Julia Roberts will receive an honorary César

Revealed in the film “Pretty Woman” in 1990, the Oscar-winning American actress will be the prestigious guest at the 50th César ceremony scheduled for February at the Olympia.

American actress Julia Roberts will be awarded an honorary César on February 28, 2024, during the 50th edition of the most prestigious French cinema awards, the organizers announced Monday September 30, 2024.

Propelled to the forefront at the age of 23 in Pretty Woman with Richard Gere (1990), Julia Roberts marked the history of romantic comedy (Love at first sight in Notting Hill) and won an Oscar for her role as a whistleblower in Erin Brockovich in 2001.

At 56, she remains one of the most famous and endearing faces of American cinema, and is also known for her humanitarian and environmental commitments.

The Honorary César, which rewards a career, was awarded this year to French director and actress Agnès Jaoui and British director Christopher Nolan.

The 50th César ceremony, broadcast unencrypted on the Canal+ channel, will take place at the Olympia and will be chaired by Catherine Deneuve. Nominations will be announced on January 29. The 49th edition saw the triumph ofAnatomy of a fall by Justine Triet (César for best film and best direction).
