Ray Liotta, who enjoyed worldwide success in 1990 with his role as Henry Hill in Freedmen of Martin Scorsese, died at the age of 67, announced his agent to Variety, Thursday, May 26. The comedian “died in his sleep while in the Dominican Republic filming an upcoming film, Dangerous Waterswrites the American title.

Whether he plays a gangster or a policeman, Ray Liotta was a regular in thrillers. We had seen it in Copland, Blow, Narcor Revolver. But none of these films had the impact of Freedmen, which received huge critical and commercial acclaim. The film had been nominated six times for the Oscars, and won a statuette (the Oscar for best actor in a supporting role) at the ceremony organized in 1991.
