American actor David Corenswet will play Superman in the next film in the DC Comics franchise

David Corenswet will be the next actor to don Superman’s red cape. This was confirmed by director James Gunn on Tuesday, June 27, on Twitterby re-sharing an article from HollywoodReporter about the cast of the film. The 29-year-old American, who rose to prominence for his roles in several hit series, including Hollywood And The Politician on Netflix, will take on the role of the mythical superhero in Superman: Legacyproduced by Warner Bros. Studios and slated for theatrical release in 2025.

The news was first reported by specialist media, which also revealed that actress Rachel Brosnahan had been cast as journalist Lois Lane. She is best known for her role in the series The Fabulous Mrs. Maiselwhich earned him two Golden Globes and two Emmy Awards.

Before David Corenswet, actors Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh and more recently Henry Cavill played Superman on the big screen. In 2022, the Warner Bros studio commissioned a duo made up of james gunn and producer Peter Safran to relaunch his DC Comics franchise, with the aim of energizing it against competition from Marvel.
