Of the 46 presidents of the United States, Donald Trump is the eleventh to be the target of an assassination attempt. Several have lost their lives, including Abraham Lincoln and John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
First there is the shock. America is seeing the images of the attack live, as in a bar in Milwaukee (Wisconsin, United States), the city where the Republican convention is going to take place. All over the country, there are the same reactions, between shock and horror. “It’s horrible, I don’t have the words but it’s 100% a war against the American people”comments a resident. “I am shocked by what happened, as was the case with other presidents.”confides another resident.
Everyone thinks of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, killed in Dallas in 1963 while he was in his limousine. Before him, other sitting presidents fell: Abraham Lincoln, shot in 1865, James Garfield, stabbed in 1881, and William McKinley, killed in 1901. Once again, America is facing its old demons. Ronald Reagan was the last president to be shot, in 1981 in Washington (United States). He had been seriously injured in an attack committed by a madman.
