The French Minister of Sports and the Olympic Games “hopes with all her heart” that Celine Dion will be at the opening ceremony in Paris, in a little over a month.
Questioned Wednesday on the “Télématin” show on France 2, Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra did not rule out the presence of the Quebec singer at the July 26 ceremony. But she clarified that “there is a boss, and it is Thomas Jolly, artistic director of the ceremonies”.
And there is also, of course, the health of the Quebec singer.
Celine Dion recently attended the premiere of the documentary “Je suis: Céline Dion” in which we discover a singer who fights against stiff person syndrome. This rare disease, diagnosed after years, affects his vocal abilities.
Questioned on June 17 during the New York premiere of the documentary, the singer seemed surprised that Quebec journalists asked her to confirm the rumor that brought her to Paris for the opening ceremony.
“There, you have come so far, this is the first time I have walked in heels, and then you have gone to Paris? Maybe we’ll wait a little bit,” she said, before adding “that’s nice, you’re taking me to Paris and then I have dreams.”
The French minister responsible for the Paris Olympics admitted Wednesday that Céline Dion’s presence at the opening ceremony was “within the realm of possibility.”
“And I will tell you: I wish it with all my heart. It’s a hypothesis. »
The opening ceremony must take place along the Seine. The greatest secrecy surrounds the details of this ceremony which will be seen by hundreds of millions of people around the world.
