On September 23, 2023, Amel Bent announced a break in her career,
“the road ends here for me, but I will meet you on the way because your love is my compass“. And while she focuses on writing and preparing her next album, the singer has agreed to be the honorary president of a ceremony on Women who impact and inspire, organized by the association mediaClub’Elles.

And Hana and Sofia’s mother showed off a whole new look, bobbed hair, for the occasion. She went on stage in a strapless jumpsuit to sing “My philosophy”, the anthem of the evening. Amel Bent also gave a moving speech… The singing star admitted to the audience gathered for this 6th ceremony which rewarded Flavie Flament and Vanessa Springora in particular, that she had wondered why she was there.
The one who sang with her fist raised from the start of her career, assured that behind the song she often sang to give herself courage, there was also a most important woman… and that is Aïcha, her grandmother, died in November 2023. About her, Amel Bent explained that she taught her everything about what a woman is, without ever uttering the word feminism.

In fact, Aïcha used to say to him: “don’t forget my daughter, a woman is not the outfit, it’s not the hairstyle, it’s not the makeup. A woman is the joy (sic)“, as well as “Work is your freedom“. At 30 years old, she had already had 11 children, 2 stillbirths and one died of illness at 2 years old, explains Amel Bent. A widow, she had refused to be remarried, she had lived through the war in Algeria, and She was beaten in France to get housing and then became a childminder even though she was illiterate.
Through this portrait of the woman who was her model, Amel Bent paid tribute to all these women from the shadows, who armed the strong women in the light, of which she is one. And she of course shed a little tear, very moved by this incredible destiny…
