AMBER Alert Tuesday | Two women charged in kidnapping of five-year-old boy

Two women have been charged in connection with the kidnapping of a five-year-old boy in Brossard on Monday evening, which triggered an AMBER Alert for several hours on Tuesday.

The two women, aged 65 and 48, appeared in court Wednesday in Longueuil. They were charged with kidnapping, kidnapping with intent to illegally transport a person abroad against their will and kidnapping a person under 14 “with intent to deprive their parent or guardian of possession.”

The Crown said Wednesday that both women will return to court Thursday for a bail hearing.

Their identities are under a publication ban to protect the identity of the five-year-old.

The Sûreté du Québec issued an AMBER alert around 4 a.m. Tuesday after the boy was allegedly kidnapped in Brossard, south of Montreal, by a person driving a Tesla Model 3 registered in Ontario.

The boy was finally found safe Tuesday morning in York Region, north of Toronto.
