AMBER Alert in Chaudière-Appalaches | Father accused of kidnapping

The man suspected of having kidnapped his two children on Monday, in Chaudière-Appalaches, thus triggering an AMBER alert, was formally charged on Tuesday.

The identity of the 40-year-old suspect is protected by a publication ban so that the two young victims cannot be identified. He is accused of kidnapping and failing to provide the things necessary for their existence.

Under these two charges, the man faces a prison sentence of up to 15 years.

The AMBER alert was triggered early Monday, before being lifted around 3:30 p.m., after the missing children in the Saint-Vallier region were found safe and sound. The case will return to court on June 6 – the accused will remain detained in the meantime.
