The father of the 1-year-old whose disappearance sparked an AMBER Alert earlier this week was charged with kidnapping Thursday morning.
The young man appeared in the morning at the Montreal courthouse. He remains detained and is prohibited from communicating with the child’s mother and anyone else. His case will return to court on Friday.
The girl’s mother, an 18-year-old woman, was also arrested and charged with kidnapping on Wednesday. She is expected to appear this afternoon.
A publication ban prevents us from naming the defendants, to protect the identity of the 1-year-old.
Remember that the mother fled with the little girl Tuesday morning, finally being located by the authorities the next day in the borough of Saint-Laurent, in Montreal.
