Former Montreal Expos outfielder Brad Wilkerson was named assistant batting coach for the New York Yankees on Monday.

Wilkerson previously served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the University of Jacksonville baseball program.
The American, now 45, played eight seasons in major league baseball, including four with the Expos. He was one of those who lived through the move to Washington, playing a campaign with the Nationals before playing for the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays.
The former left-handed hitter averaged .247 his entire career, scoring 500 runs in 972 games. He also hit 122 home runs.
