Alstom wins €900 million order for train maintenance in Australia

The French railway manufacturer has specified that it will ensure the maintenance of the VLocity and Classic regional train fleet for the next ten years.

The French railway manufacturer Alstom has won a call for tenders worth around 900 million euros for the maintenance of regional trains in the Australian state of Victoria, the group announced Thursday, December 21. He specified that he would ensure the maintenance of the VLocity and Classic regional train fleet for the next ten years.

In addition to more than 300 fleet maintenance jobs in Victoria, the company is committed to creating new jobs in the local rail industry. Alstom also wants to devote, throughout the duration of the contract, 6% of its expenses to the 40 social suppliers in the region.

Alstom also promised the creation of a new train control center. “Our history with VLocity dates back to 2003. In this twentieth year, I am very honored by the confidence placed in us by the Victorian Government”said Pascal Dupond, Alstom general manager for Australia and New Zealand.
