The Alsatians Sara Balzer and Sarah Noutcha finally miss the last step of the World Fencing Championships in Egypt! A month after being European champions, the two Strasbourgeoises leave with the silver medal. They failed in the final of the team saber event, Saturday July 23, against Hungary (45-40), with their teammates Anne Poupinet and Caroline Queroli.
The French women’s saber team caused a sensation in the semi-finals against Japan, winning 45 to 43. At the end of these World Championships in Cairo, the French clan left with eight podiums, including four titles. Which makes it the first country in the medal standings!
