Alsace and its wine route

Departure from Strasbourg, European capital and capital of Alsace where is kept the oldest wine in the world, a white wine from Alsace dating from 1472. It can be found in the historic cellar of the Hospices. This exceptional cuvée can still be consumed, but it is a privilege to taste itthis happened only 3 times in 5 centuries.

The Alsace Wine Route was created during a car rally, May 30, 1953. Two convoys set off at the same time, one from the northern end of the Alsatian vineyard, at Marlenheim, and the other from the southern end, at Thann, and drove to meet one the other. Since then she meanders lovingly through vineyards and hillsides over more than 170 km, from north to south of the territory. It crosses nearly 70 wine-growing villages.
