Alpine Skiing World Cup | Norwegian Lucas Braathen emerges victorious in the first slalom of the season

(Val-D’Isère) A second clear run helped Norwegian Lucas Braathen win the first slalom of the season at the Alpine Skiing World Cup on Sunday in Val-d’Isère.

He thus obtained a third victory of his career.

His compatriot and reigning World Cup slalom champion Henrik Kristoffersen had a 0.07 second lead after the first run.

However, he made a few mistakes on the Face de Bellevarde course and finished sixth, 1.35 seconds behind Braathen.

Braathen, 22, was 84 hundredths ahead of Austrian Manuel Feller. Swiss Loïc Meillard finished third, 0.98 behind Braathen.

Olympic champion Clément Noël, silver medalist Johannes Strolz and Atle Lie McGrath went off the track in the first run, having straddled gates.

Noël won ahead of his team in Val d’Isère last year.

Canadian Erik Read finished seventh.

Last season there were seven different winners in the first seven slalom races.
