(Sölden) Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami, double world champion in 2021, won the giant in Sölden, Austria, the first race of the season on Saturday.
Fourth at the end of the first round, the Olympic Super-G champion finally beat the Italian Federica Brignone (2e at 2 hundredths of a second) and the Slovakian Petra Vlhova (+14 hundredths of a second).
American star Mikaela Shiffrin, five-time winner of the big globe and victorious in the last race in Sölden in 2021 (the women’s events had been canceled in 2022), finished in 6e place.
Canadian Valérie Grenier took 7e rank, finishing 1.45 s behind the winner.
Lara Gut-Behrami, 32, signs her 38e World Cup victory and her third in Sölden, where she had already won in 2013 and 2016.
