(Brush) Aleksander Aamodt Kilde of Norway won the super G at the Alpine Skiing World Cup on Friday, less than a year after tearing a ligament in his right knee.
Kilde mastered a technical and awkward track in 1: 10.26 to beat Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt, victorious in a Super G on Thursday.
American Travis Ganong finished third, securing a first Super G podium at the World Cup.
Bjarne Solbakken (2003) and Aksel Lund Svindal (2008) are the other Norwegians to have triumphed in super G at Beaver Creek.
Kilde was competing for a third race since he was injured last January.
“It’s a great feeling to win here,” said frequenter with American ski star Mikaela Shiffrin. It’s incredible. ”
His teammate and good friend Kjetil Jansrud injured his shoulder and knee while hitting the security fence.
Among the Canadiens, James Crawford finished 12e, Broderick Thompson 20e, Riley Seger 22e, Brodie Seger 26e and Jeffrey Read 41e.
The track called “Birds of Prey” will host descents on Saturday and Sunday.
