(L’Alpe D’Huez) Mikaël Kingsbury seems to have found his cruising speed. The Quebecer scored a third victory in a row and reached the podium for a fourth time in as many races this season by winning the Alpe d’Huez Moguls World Cup.
Kingsbury, who won the singles and parallel events last week in Idre Fjall in Sweden, collected 86.55 points to edge his compatriot Elliot Vaillancourt, second at 77.44.
This is a first career podium for Vaillancourt.
Japan’s Ikuma Horishima (77.23) finished third, his third podium of the season.
Julien Viel took 10e place. Gabriel Dufresne (21e), Louis-David Chalifoux (25e), Sam Cordell (27e) and Samuel Goodison (32e) were the other Canadians in the running.
Kingsbury now has 83 victories on the World Cup circuit in 139 starts.
In the women’s race, Australian Jakara Anthony beat Americans Jaelin Kauf and Olivia Giaccio.
Berkley Brown was the best Canadian in ninth place. Maia Schwinghammer finished 15ewhile Laurianne Desmarais-Gilbert was unable to complete her qualifying descent.
The field will be back on track on Saturday for the parallel moguls.
