Alortujou was created in 1978. At that time, in the bars we let off steam on Space Invaders. Yes, but Jean-Michel Blanc, founder of Alortujou, does not hear it that way. Him, it will be wooden games. A great success. And one day, he discovers a spiritual son in the person of Greg Bas. We are at the beginning of 2018. Six months later, Jean-Michel suddenly disappears and Greg, helped for the first few months by the founder’s wife, decides to continue the adventure. Today, Alortujou is over 40 years old.
Alortujou manufactures traditional, skillful or more original wooden games. Games of reflection, memory, strategy, invented by Alortujou or by game authors who entrust him with the creation and production of an idea. To introduce the public to the pleasure of simple and original games Alortujou also manufactures giant wooden games for communities, toy libraries and events.
The games intended for individuals are made from noble wood species such as Finnish boulot, Jura beech or African redwood (for shuffleboard games because it is very resistant). But Greg assures him, all his materials come from sustainably managed forests. For the big games, a company in Le Boulou supplies him with plywood made from wood from the Tarn. The small parts are turned in the Jura by a specialized craftsman.
Alortujou is based in Céret where the company has a 300 m² workshop and a showroom. The address: 2 Rue du Très Vents in Céret. Alortujou also offers turnkey entertainment and even rental.
