While no truce is yet in sight between Israel and Hamas, in Gaza, more than a million Gazans are hungry, or nearly half of the population living in the enclave.
One in two Gazans faces a catastrophic food situation, close to famine. These are the findings of the United Nations reported on Wednesday March 20, one of whose officials, Philippe Lazzarini, was refused entry on Tuesday March 19. “Two months after the siege began, we already warned that hunger was spreading in Gaza, to a place where it had never been before. This is clearly an artificially man-made food crisis.”he explained.
More critical situation in northern Gaza
All depend on food aid which is still insufficient. An even more critical situation in northern Gaza, where more than 300,000 people still live. The hope now is that the ongoing mediations in Qatar will result in a truce in the enclave.
