Another alleged victim of Robert Miller has filed a civil lawsuit against the Montreal businessman who is the subject of allegations that he exploited minors and young women for sexual purposes.
Montreal law firm CaLex on Wednesday filed an $8 million lawsuit against Mr. Miller, the company he founded, Future Electronics, two of his vice presidents and a downtown Montreal hotel. where the sexual encounters allegedly took place.
The complainant, identified by the initials “AB”, alleges that she was victimized by Mr Miller for almost 20 years and became dependent on the money and luxuries allegedly provided to her by the wealthy man business.
The lawsuit document alleges that the plaintiff, from a low-income immigrant family, was underage when she was recruited to have sex with Robert Miller in 2001.
Mr. Miller resigned as president and CEO of Future Electronics last February, the day after the broadcast of a report by Radio-Canada. Mr. Miller then described as “false and baseless” the allegations reported by Radio-Canada.
The report of the show Investigation alleged that Mr Miller paid money and gifts to girls aged 14 to 17 in exchange for sex between 1994 and 2006.
Last February, the Montreal Police Service confirmed that it had investigated the allegations against the businessman in 2008-2009, then submitted a file to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP ), which was to determine whether charges are laid.
According to the Radio-Canada report, the police ended their investigation in 2010 and no charges were brought by the DPCP in this case.
Mr. Miller categorically denies the allegations, which have not been proven in court.
In February, law firm Consumer Law Group filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of Mr. Miller’s alleged victims, seeking punitive and psychological damages.
