The noose of justice is tightening around Robert Miller, with 47 alleged victims of the billionaire who demand that he undergo interrogation as quickly as possible, despite his state of health.

“We want to proceed quickly, because the procedures will be long,” he said. Newspaper Me Jeff Orenstein, just before the start of a hearing at the Montreal courthouse.
The case returns to court this Thursday, in the hope of convincing the judge to skip steps in the class action process against the founder and former president of Future Electronics, a major global distributor of electronic components.
This is because according to court documents, Miller committed numerous sexual assaults on minors. The show Investigation of Radio-Canada lifted the veil last February on a system that he allegedly operated for more than 20 years in order to satisfy his base instincts.
It has since been the subject of a class action, with 47 women who say they were victims of the billionaire. An $11 million lawsuit was also filed by an alleged victim who was just 11 years old at the time.
Precarious health
However, Miller’s state of health is currently precarious, due among other things to Parkinson’s disease. He currently has difficulty expressing himself, only being able to say a few words at a time. He would also be bedridden, with access to nursing care.
So that Me Orenstein wants to proceed with his interrogation as quickly as possible. He also asks to be able to question a potential witness who is now in his nineties.
Miller’s lawyers oppose the request regarding their client, especially since the class action has not yet obtained court authorization to move forward. And if the judge were to agree with the plaintiffs’ lawyer, the interrogation would have to take place at Miller’s house, with numerous interruptions due to the billionaire’s state of health.
From the start of the hearing, Me Karim Renno also requested that Miller’s medical reports be kept confidential.
“I would not want the details of his state of health to be public,” he pleaded in court.
The judge agreed to seal the reports, as is customary for this type of document.
The hearing lasted all day until the judge took his decision under advisement.
