all the practical information on the opening parade of Utopia

Utopia: this is the name of the 6th edition of lille3000. To launch this major cultural event which takes place until October 2, a opening party in the colors of nature will take place this Saturday, May 14 in the streets of Lille. Find all the practical information here.

The parade

It’s the highlight of the day. The parade will start at 7:30 p.m. from Lille Flandres station to reach the Quai du Wault. We will see giants, dancers, musicians, floats but also flying animals. It will be followed by a fireworks display on the Champ de Mars. The route can be found here.

The animations

To accompany the parade, events will take place at three different locations in the city center of Lille.

Station 1: fashion & urban dance from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Place François Mitterrand

This space will offer a program combining fashion, Hip-Hop music, cultures and urban dances. There will also be a giant thrift store and a market for young ethical designers.

Station 2: Opera from 12 p.m. to midnight – Place du Théâtre

For twelve hours, a large musical program will be offered at the theater square. Whether it’s a children’s choir, a band or a world music concert.

Station 3: Alice in Wonderland from 2 p.m. to midnight – Grand’Place

The Grand’Place in Lille will be transformed into the world of Alice in Wonderland. There will be giant mushrooms and titanic vines.

Car traffic

Traffic in the city center by car will be very disrupted this Saturday. A security perimeter is in place from Saturday 9:30 a.m. to Sunday 1:30 a.m. Many streets will be off limitseither from 9:30 a.m., or from 5:30 p.m., or from 9 p.m.

Depending on where you live, traffic will be prohibited more or less early this Saturday.

Transportation

The ilevia network is adapting its public transport offer for this special day. The two metro lines will run until 1:30 a.m. from Lille Flandres station. In the evening, the frequency will even be increased. For the tram also, the two lines will be extended until 1:30 a.m. from Lille Flandres station.

If you take the bus be careful. Lines L1, L5, L90, L91, 9, 10, 14, 16, 18, 50, 51, 86, 88 and CITL will be disrupted. The Vieux-Lille shuttle will stop from 5:30 p.m.
