“All of the answers that Gabriel Attal provides are regressions on environmental issues and only concern industrial agriculture”, regrets Friday January 26 on franceinfo Antoine Gatet. The president of France Nature Environnement reacts to the announcements made by the Prime Minister during a trip to Haute-Garonne to respond to the anger of farmers who have been demonstrating for several days in France.

“Gabriel Attal began by saying that he especially did not want to oppose agriculture and ecology and there he stigmatized environmental protectors quite seriously”judges the president of France Nature Environnement in reaction to the comments made by the Prime Minister towards those who criticize farmers.

For Antoine Gatet, Gabriel Attal retrieves the current file and does not have an overview of the problem: “He discovered the subject in four days and I think that’s a little short. It’s all the shorter because apparently he only heard the speech of the productivist union of the FNSEA which only represents the interests of industrial agriculture.

Only one agriculture heard

Yet, “there is not just one agriculture in France”recalls the president. “The challenge for us – civil society committed to environmental protection – is to support agriculture in the major challenges of ecological transition to ensure that the agriculture of tomorrow is an agroecology that can exist , feed the French properly and which allow farmers to earn money via short circuits”.

Antoine Gatet says to himself “disappointed” that the farmers’ protest took this turn: “At the start of the agricultural anger – which we fully support and support – I had the impression that the debate was starting to focus on the real issues: that of the agricultural model”. He hoped that all forms of agriculture would be heard and regrets that this is not the case. Antoine Gatet has the impression that “Gabriel Attal spent four days locked up with Arnaud Rousseau of the FNSEA and he only had one speech and therefore he only proposes measures which go in the direction of this industrial agriculture”.
