At the end of January, Florent Pagny surprised everyone by announcing that he had cancer. Currently undergoing chemotherapy the singer finally made his first media appearance since this news this Thursday, February 10, 2022 on TF1. Asked about this interview, Gilles Bouleau first explained how they got in touch to Feminine to whom he confided: “I learn, like everyone via his Instagram account on January 25 that he has cancer. I am struck by the incredible frankness, the incredible courage with which, facing the camera, he says that. He says it in more detail, in my opinion, than any other personality has said. And there, it lasts a minute, I took it as an uppercut. Not knowing him, I asked for his phone number and sent him a note. I said to him: “Hello, we don’t know each other, I’m Gilles, I present the 8 p.m. news, I just wanted to tell you that if you thought it useful, interesting, to come to our newspaper, you were more than welcome. Friendships”. A few days passed, he sent me an SMS: “Yes, I am in the middle of chemo, so a little tired, but as soon as I get out of it, I come.” It’s done very simply, like that.”
Regarding the preparation of this interview, the journalist left no room for error given that they did not know each other before this meeting. But all did not turn out as he had imagined. “I had planned very structured questions, but all that was shattered because he knows how to tell the story himself. He didn’t really need me (…) I quickly understood that the best way to get the most was to erase myself. I think all the work was up front. The fact that I ask him, the fact that he accepts, the fact that we don’t know each other and that despite everything he accepts, all the work was done” admitted Gilles Bouleau.
Gilles Bouleau also explained that he spent some time after that with Florent Pagny where they continued the interview and chatted. “It was quite a moving moment, quite amazing and quite rare” he concluded before describing the singer as being: “beautiful as a god, fit and full of projects”. A beautiful moment then!
