All Montreal students on an educational day due to the solar eclipse of April 8

All French-speaking public school students in Montreal will have an educational day on April 8 due to the solar eclipse scheduled for that day. The three school service centers (CSS) behind this decision felt they could not ensure the eye safety of their students, particularly in the context of their return home at the end of classes.

“By analyzing the situation, in particular the time of the event which coincides with the return home, the French-speaking school service centers on the Island, including the CSSMB, made the decision to replace the school day of 8 April with an educational day already planned in the calendars of primary and secondary schools,” indicates the Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Service Center (CSSMB), in a declaration sent to the Duty THURSDAY.

The CSS de la Pointe-de-l’Île and the CSS de Montréal have also confirmed that their schools will be closed on April 8.

These three CSS will, however, continue to offer childcare to their registered students on the day of the solar eclipse.

More details will follow.
