Aliocha Schneider in the sequel to The Spanish Inn

Quebec comedian Aliocha Schneider will star in Greek saladthe highly anticipated sequel to The Spanish inn.

In this French series produced for Amazon Prime Video, the actor will play Tom, the son of the couple at the heart of Cédric Klapisch’s films, played by Romain Duris (Xavier) and Kelly Reilly (Wendy). Megan Northam will play her sister, Mia.

Amazon Prime Video did not specify the release date of Greek saladbut in all likelihood, the platform will put the series online in 2022, just to mark the 20 years of The Spanish inn. Released in theaters in 2002, the comedy generated two sequels, Russian dolls (2005) and Chinese puzzle (2013).

According to the official synopsis released on Tuesday, Greek salad will revolve around the characters of Tom and Mia, and the contentious relationship between brother and sister. Aged 25, the first had brilliant studies, his family nurturing a lot of expectations vis-à-vis him. While the second, aged 19, rebellious and rebellious, seeks to free herself from her parents.

Their lives change when their grandfather dies and leaves them a building in Athens. Tom then goes to join his sister in the Greek capital, where she continues her studies. They will find themselves sharing an apartment with people from all over Europe, as their parents did in the early 2000s.

In addition to Romain Duris and Kelly Reilly, Cécile de France (Isabelle), Kevin Bishop (William) and Barnaby Metschurat (Tobias) will resume the roles they held in the original series.

This is a new leading role for Aliocha Schneider in France. Last fall, he appeared in the credits of the historical drama Germinalpresented on France 2. In 2020, he distinguished himself in Vampires on Netflix.

In Quebec, viewers saw him in Lights, Jeremiah and Yamaska. Also a singer, Aliocha Schneider has launched a few albums since 2016. According to the latest news, he is still in a relationship with singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin.
