M6 viewers should find it hard to contain their emotions when they discover the portrait ofAlicia. The 28-year-old nurse coordinator is one of the candidates for Married at first sight 2022. And she did not hide that six years ago, she experienced a tragedy that turned her life upside down.
On Christmas Eve, the charming blonde was victim of a car accident. An incident in which her older sister died. Alicia was rushed to hospital where she fell into a coma. The young woman was hit in the spine, hip, arm, ribs, liver and intestines. Wounds that left marks. “I have scars on my back and on my abdomen. I’ve had eight operations in three years“, she confided to Entertainment TV. The doctors did not immediately realize that she could be paralyzed in the leg because of “coma sedation“. It was only three months after the accident that the verdict fell, following an electrocardiogram: “I was in denial, but good denial. I refused to tell myself that at 21, my leg was paralyzed. It was out of the question. I was young, I didn’t want to. It was unthinkable.”
Out of the question indeed for Alicia to let herself down. Four months after leaving the hospital, she attended rehabilitation sessions. “I gave everything. And I succeeded. Either I didn’t fight and was left with my paralyzed leg, demons and depression, or I was fighting and giving a lot more than I thought.“, she said. Even today, she does not know how she did to get there. Fortunately, she was well followed after her accident. She saw psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and even tried hypnosis sessions. But it took her time to find the two professionals she finally trusted. “Today, I am talking about it because the time has passed. I fought, I had a follow-up. I want to give hope to people who may have experienced the same thing as me.“, she concluded. A beautiful lesson in life.
