The Miss France competition took place this Saturday, December 16, 2023, attracting an audience of more than 7 million viewers. At the end of the evening, France crowned a new beauty queen. Ève Gilles, representing the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, won the crown, succeeding Indira Ampiot. Shortly before the awards ceremony, the latter spoke at length about the issue of school bullying, a cause which is particularly close to her heart and which she intends to defend throughout her reign.
“Harassment, whether it’s academic or not, you can experience it anywhere, no matter what you do. By doing Miss France, I didn’t think I would be criticized for my body […] I didn’t think I would be bothered anymore because of my haircut. I will reassure this child by telling him that he should not listen to others, I know that words sometimes hurt more than actions, he will know how to get back up, his life does not stop, he must move forward and listening to loved ones, talking about it to an adult, it’s important”, she notably said. A speech which convinced the members of the jury composed of Stéfi Celma, Adriana Karembeu, Nolwenn Leroy, Nina Métayer, Estelle Mossely and Élodie Poux and chaired by Sylvie Tellier.

“On the verge of racism and disrespect”
In the public, the former Misses were also present to witness the coronation of the woman who now represents France. Among them: Alicia Aylies. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned for Miss France 2017 who, as she indicates on her Instagram account, was the victim of racism during the ceremony.
“You should know that yesterday I was asked on numerous occasions and in a rather unpleasant manner to go behind me because I was hiding my view… There is a way of saying things without bordering on racism and disrespect. You just had to eat more soup to grow a little taller. Fortunately Pierre and the others were there with me to laugh at this awkward situation lol”, she wrote on the networks while sharing a photo of the event. Despite the criticism, the young mother remained positive!
