Schools have been closed since January 20 for about ten days. After a decline, Covid-19 contaminations have started to rise again, mainly in schools. In a press release relayed by the official APS agency, the presidency announced to “preventive title” the “ssuspension of classes for a period of ten days in the three education cycles (primary, middle and secondary) starting Thursday, January 20, 2022.. For higher education, the choice is left to the appreciation of the rectors. “The decision to close universities rests with the heads of institutions and university centers, taking into account the timetable of exams and the possibility of rescheduling them for the benefit of students”, adds the press release.

The authorities are also warning about air transport. “It was found that some flights to Algeria recorded a significant number of infections, hence the imperative of more rigorous control and the reduction, if necessary, of the number of these flights”, notes the press release from the presidency. Algeria’s air borders, closed since March 17, 2020, partially reopened on June 1, 2021.
