Several historic figures of the radical left party, including Alexis Corbière, were not nominated for the early legislative elections of June 30 and July 7.

The outgoing deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis Alexis Corbière, not reinvested by La France insoumise in his constituency where he has been elected since 2017, accused Jean-Luc Mélenchon, of whom he was once one of the closest, of “settle accounts”. Manuel Bompard, outgoing LFI deputy for Bouches-du-Rhône, responded to him in 19/20 info, Monday June 17. “Alexis Corbière says all the bad things about the rebellious apparatus. I find it difficult to understand why he asked for his nomination from the moment when La France insoumise chose in this constituency to nominate another candidate”he noted. And to add: “He must respect it and not maintain a candidacy which will weaken the chances of this candidate who, today, is the only official candidate of the New Popular Front”.

A gaping fissure has been created within La France insoumise (LFI), accused of “purge” or “sectarianism”. “The principle of this agreement is that each political group freely chooses the candidates it wants to invest in its constituencies. From the moment LFI has chosen to invest a candidate in this constituency then it benefits from the support of all political organizations participating in this agreement”recalls the LFI deputy.
