Alexandra Richard will not have a new trial. The Court of Cassation confirms, Wednesday, November 2, the sentence pronounced at first instance and on appeal against him, reports France Bleu Normandie. The 44-year-old woman is definitively sentenced to ten years of criminal imprisonment for the murder of her spouse, in 2016 in Montreuil-en-Caux (Seine-Maritime).

This mother of three children was sentenced to this sentence by the assizes of Seine-Maritime in November 2020 then by the Court of Appeal of Evreux in October 2021. Alexandra Richard has always pleaded the accident. She explains that on that day in October 2016, her companion had been drinking and was threatening to hit her. She had taken a gun, loaded it, and then the shot had gone off by accident. The forties, victim of domestic violence, had received the support of feminist associations.

The lawyer, of Alexandra Richard, master Quentin Dekimpe wonders about the decision of the Court of Cassation which retains the aggravating circumstance of “violence on spouse”, then “that she was the victim of domestic violence and that she had never raped her companion”.

For Master Quentin Dekimpe, “another stage opens concerning it” to get his client out of jail as quickly as possible. He hopes that she can benefit from an adjustment of sentence. “She was sentenced to ten years. This means that an automatic security sentence is in place. So normally the law provides that she cannot be released before a period of five years. She has already served three years. We will discuss with her the fact of making a request for an extension of this security period to possibly get her out more quickly”, he explains. The defense of Alexandra Richard will seize the European Court of Human Rights.
